A new cafe designed by Luke opened at Hotel Les Deux Gares in October 2025. The cafe sits on the ground floor of the hotel, and incorporates a large terrace on Rue d’Alsace.

“I wanted this new space to have a different feeling from Café Les Deux Gares, but still part of the same world, and very much in conversation with the neighbouring hotel, which opened in 2020.”

The walls of the cafe are covered with hessian, and on these hang photographs of red benches, a lime green Suzuki parked in a meadow, and landscapes by the Italian photographer Giulio Ghiarardi. The painted dresser Luke designed, based on an old English version. This oversized piece of furniture he filled with plates, books, board games, flowers, jars, pots and general useful, handsome clutter. Happily it’s also now home to several of chef Jonathan Schweizer’s fermentation experiments.

Sofas for lounging are covered with Luke’s Wobble Grid fabric for Rubelli. The large dining table in the middle of the cafe came from an old monastery in France, and the tiles behind the bar are reclaimed.

“I wanted to make a really warm and inviting space, somewhere for hotel guests and passing visitors to relax and while away time over a jambon beurre or ice cream sundae."
