Luke Edward Hall is an English artist, designer and writer. Luke’s philosophy is shaped by his love of storytelling, mythology and fantasy. Though he strives to make work contemporary and alive in feeling, his approach is often inspired by the past, filtered through a lens of vibrant and poetic romanticism.
Luke established his studio in the autumn of 2015 and since then has continuously split his time working on a broad range of projects and across multiple disciplines. He is represented internationally by Athens-based gallery The Breeder, and works as an interior designer, creating and art directing hotels and restaurants. For projects of this kind he is represented by Desselle Partners.
Luke is the Creative Director of Chateau Orlando, a fashion and homewares brand, based between Milan and London, which he co-founded in 2022.
Luke collaborates with a variety of companies and historic institutions. He produces porcelain ranges with Ginori 1735 and a collection of interior fabrics with Rubelli. His previous clients include Burberry, Lanvin, Svenskt Tenn, Glyndebourne, Royal Academy of Arts and the V&A.
From 2019 until 2025 Luke was a columnist for the Financial Times, answering reader's questions on interior design and living well in FT Weekend. Luke has authored three books: Greco Disco: The Art & Design of Luke Edward Hall, A Kind of Magic: The Kaleidoscopic World of Luke Edward Hall, and 300,000 Kisses: Tales of Queer Love from the Ancient World.
Re-enchantment of landscape is central to Luke’s visual language, and his art recalls a lineage of artists who have depicted the male figure through a queer gaze.
